The Year’s Best Science Fiction, Thirtieth Annual Collection
Ed. By Gardner Dozois
This volume marks the thirtieth installment in an outstanding series, an anniversary made all the more impressive by just how good, and how big, a book it is (the cover announces “More Than 300,000 Words of Fantastic Fiction,” which is a little more than half as long as an English translation of War and Peace). Once again editor Gardner Dozois — who knows a great story when he reads one, and he reads all of them — offers a quality line-up from top to bottom, including a number of longer novella-length works. For SF fans, it’s always one of the “can’t miss” books of the year.
