Year’s Best SF 18
Ed. by David Hartwell
In my initial review of this title I wrote that it was a sign of the health of today’s SF short fiction that editor David Hartwell’s long-running series had gone to a larger format in 2013, including even more speculative visions of the shape of things to come. Sadly, the 18th annual volume was to be the last in the series.
It’s always interesting to see what’s hot and what’s not in these annual anthologies. Among the most fashionable topics currently trending in SF are nanotechnology, Artificial Intelligence, and the fallout from climate change, all of which are explored here in a solid line-up of stories from the genre’s leading edge.
